You might have seen the announcement about the very first EP of “The Betrayed” being available on Bandcamp right now, but this information seemed a little stale to me, especially because of the current situation worldwide. We’re all forced to stay home as much as possible and be
雪 (Yuki)
She originally started the project in 2009 as a photographer under the name of Arlequin Photography, but developed an interest in journalism and translation ever since. Because of these interests interviews and reviews were added to the project, until it eventually hit the limits as a "photographer" in 2021, and Arlequin Magazine was added to the mix.
雪 (Yuki) is a native Dutch speaker with a graphic design degree, which means she is also the main person behind Arlequin Creations.
After all these years, she's still the one responsible for the interviews and most of the live photography you see here at Arlequin, but the majority of reviews and behind-the-scenes work is also done by her.
The reviews she writes are from the viewing point of an overseas fan, and thus written in English before being translated to Dutch, Spanish and Japanese. In the English versions she also tries to explain the meaning behind certain kanji or song titles to the readers, but what you don't see here is that these explanations are omitted in the Japanese versions in order to appeal to these readers more.
She speaks Dutch and English on a native level, but also understands Japanese and German.
DEVILOOF // Devil’s Calling/Angel’s Cry: This story of love that is determined to end my life
The release of DEVILOOF’s newest single was already announced in January of 2020, with the release date itself being set for March 11. But the release was eventually delayed indefinitely. To the great surprise (and delight) of fans we didn’t have to wait for the single to be released anyway,
NOCTURNAL BLOODLUST // ONLY HUMAN: The greatest sin is human beings
NOCTURNAL BLOODLUST started their “counterattack on 2020” last May already, with their sudden release of the single “Life is Once”, along with the message that they have returned to the studio along with a mystery guitarist. Now, two months later, the band is back again with another single, this time
NOCTURNAL BLOODLUST // Life is Once: The time passed by will never be back
The lineup of NOCTURNAL BLOODLUST already took quite the hit because of the events that caused guitarists Daichi and Cazqui to announce their departure from the band, but instead of putting a band-aid on the wound life threw another curveball at the remaining members. Shortly after the release of their
Cazqui’s Brutal Orchestra // OSWALD: Take off your face
Cazqui already made some waves as the lead guitarist of NOCTURNAL BLOODLUST, but due to some events behind the scenes both Cazqui and the other guitarist Daichi ended up leaving the group.
These events are personal between the members, and even though some of it has leaked onto the internet here and there
Rumbless. // A “catastrophe.” for a business card
For this interview I spoke with vocalist Roku, guitarist Takaki, bassist Sin and drummer Tva, four guys who form “Rumbless.” together. Rumbless. combines metal with J-Pop and elements of ヴィジュアル系 (Visual Kei) to create their unique signature sound. And even though they’re still a relatively young
Rumbless. // Σ-sigma-: Layer the colors as you like
Rumbless. is still a relative newcomer in the ヴィジュアル系 (Visual Kei) scene, but vocalist Roku has been in other projects (like “Project zero”, “Re;zero”, “End;Re” and “Sith”) prior to Rumbless. Despite being rather new to the scene, Roku, Takaki, Sin and Tva have a very good image of what they want. They
Jupiter // Warrior of Liberation: Beyond the never-ending light
Nearly a full year after the release of their full album “Zeus ~Legends Never Die~”, the first full album featuring KUZE as the new vocalist of the band, Jupiter now returns full force with a new single packed with three songs for fans to enjoy.
Each song on this single is unique in it’s own way, which sure
エンヴィル (ENVYL) // The musical combination of Angels and Demons
Maybe you’ve heard of エンヴィル (ENVYL) already, considering they showed up in the ヴィジュアル系 (Visual Kei) scene immediately once their music video for “D.I.D” hit their YouTube channel, combining metal, programming and ヴィジュアル系 (Visual Kei) in one package with their version of light
G.L.A.M.S // “TWILIGHT AFTER THE RAIN” Tour 2020 at Special Edition
G.L.A.M.S were originally supposed to perform at the Popcentrale for their Dordrecht stop of the date, but due to government measures relating to the rapid spreading of the COVID-19 virus the venue was forced to cancel the show just one day before it was supposed to take place. Unfortunately for G.L.A.M.S
VII ARC // “TWILIGHT AFTER THE RAIN” Tour 2020 (support) at Special Edition
Just like G.L.A.M.S, VII ARC were supposed to support the Japanese group at the Popcentrale, but when the show was canceled to comply with government restrictions and G.L.A.M.S found a new stage at Special Edition, VII ARC moved along with them.
And again, just like G.L.A.M.S, the smaller stage meant
G.L.A.M.S // Closing the language gap through “TWILIGHT AFTER THE RAIN”
When G.L.A.M.S announced that they would be touring Europe again despite the developments surrounding the COVID-19 virus I originally said that maybe it wasn’t the greatest time to do an interview. I recently spoke with vocalist and band leader Mikaru through an email-interview about the new album
